Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate

Chimene Schwach has been endorsed for 2022 as a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate

Uvalde
I am sure many of us feel a sense of heaviness, grief and anger over the senseless act of gun violence in Uvalde that killed 19 children and two teachers, all of whom were excited for the last days of school and summer adventures. As a parent who drops my boys at school daily, it has been a tough week. I have vacillated from trying to process my grief and anger and wanting action. There were 34 school shootings in 2021, and we are already at 27 in 2022 - and it's only May!

How many of our children have to die before we pass even one common-sense gun law? Schools should be sanctuaries of safety for our children, not where they go to die.

There must be change. Many of us in Missouri grew up with guns for hunting and sport, including me and my family, and overwhelmingly we all agree on common sense gun legislation. Despite that, each year our lawmakers ignore not only our wishes, but they even refuse to listen to our Chiefs of Police, prosecutors and first responders -  and continually vote to weaken Missouri’s gun laws. Gun violence is up 35% since 2020.  The only way to change the laws is to vote them out, and replace them with folks like myself who will stand up to gun lobbyists, so our kids don't have to stand up to gunmen.

I have been a member of Moms Demand Action since Sandy Hook, and I am proud to say I am a 2022 Gunsense Candidate.
